Medication compounding is a preparation made by the pharmacist following a prescription from a doctor, veterinarian or podiatrist. The pharmacist can legally prepare this drug when it is not yet marketed in Canada, it is temporarily not available in Canada, a strength or form (eg syrup, capsule) is not available, the taste or appearance of a drug is not accepted by a patient, an allergy to any of the ingredients in a commercial drug.
